Artist Statement
I have always been obsessed with visual art. I grew up painting, drawing, sewing, and helping my father and grandfather with building projects in their shop. The moment I realized I could explore all of my visual passions through performance art changed the trajectory of my life. Since then, I have been fascinated by the variety of texture I can add to a dance– which I explore through costuming, props, partnering, and installations.
While my technical background is formally rooted in ballet and modern dance, I specialize in using points of contact to generate movement. I thrive on the feedback that is shared between myself, other people, and objects. Physical obstacles such as props, installations, and strict parameters within a space initiate my creative process through problem-solving. I find joy in working through the puzzle to architect a space
